A little bit about your instructor

Hello again, guys! Here is a little introduction about myself:

My name is Ronaldo, I live in Brasília, and I teach English. This is a recent picture of mine. I like technology very much.

That's it.

In the comments area, write what you think about my introduction. You can use the following questions to help you:
  • Is my introduction complete? If so, what extra information do you think would be relevant? If not, what else would you like to know about me?
  • How could my introduction be better connected?
  • Do you think the picture plays an important role in an online introduction? Why (not)?

Ronaldo,

Your introduction is very brief and is difficult to say how connect more it. Maybe would be better if you use more conjunctions, not only disconnected phrases.
And I would like to know more about your trip to New York, are you in Times Square, right?

Hi Thiago. Thanks for commenting. I liked the fact that you pointed out the choppy, disconnected sentences. I'll fix that in my next intro, and I'll also add more info.

This Friday I'll publish my new intro with all tips students give me here.

I agree with Thiago. This first introduction is to short but looking for more information I found a bigger one in this blog (from you).
I know that you would like that our suggestions were about this first one so…

1 – You could talk more about how you became an English teacher and for how long have you been doing it.
2 – What is your biggest dream now? What would you like to have or do?

Hi Mariana!
Thanks for commenting, and I'm glad you are browsing through this blog, it is meant for you, but also thanks for leaving suggestions on this introduction. Your suggestions are actually meant to help your classmates write and assess their own introductions.
I'll definitely add your questions to my new introduction coming this Friday.

Hello Ronaldo. Iam sorry but, I agree with Thiago and Mariana when they said that your introduction is very brief. I would like to know more about you like where have you studied english and why did you choose to be teacher.

Hi Ariane,

There's no need to be sorry, that was the intention.
Yours are very good questions. I'll definitely use them for my new introduction this Friday.

Hi Ronaldo,
There's one point that can't be forgotten: you've said to Aline that this blog is opened to everybody on the net. So, with this information in mind, I think your introduction about yourself is quite complete. I would suggest you to add only two data: your age and how long you've been an english teacher.
In my opinion the picture is important because it brings the feeling of proximity, which is a very good thing in an online course.

Hi Ronaldo.
I agree with everyone's else opinion and here is what I suggest:
Perhaps you should try to explain your photo a little bit, because it shows us more than yourself and this fact can lead people to get to know more about what you like to do.

Hi Angela,

Good point you brough up! An online introduction open to anyone on the web shouldn't be the same as an introduction directed to specific known people.
I'll remember to add my age and how long I've been working with English Language Teaching.

Thanks for commenting!

Hi Juliana,

Thanks for commenting!
You're right, I should (and will!) explain a little more about the picture.

Ronaldo,

I tempt to agree with people who said that the introdution was short.
I think it would be nice if you talk about your experience like teacher and also like stundent.
I believe you had been like us students and how did you used to deal with student's obligations like managing time, for example.

Hi Ronaldo,

IMHO there are several types of introductions. It depends on who is listening (or reading) and the introduction’s intent. I would say that yours is vague. Introduction letters can be used for getting into a university, job interviews and even for blind dates.

Hi Patricia, thanks for the comments, and I'll make sure I talk a little about my student like in my next post coming tomorrow!

Artur, you made a very good point saying there are different kinds of introductions, from personal application letter to blind dates! That's a huge range and, thus, mine is too vague, serving no specific purpose. Take a look at my new intro tomorrow and let me know what you think about it!

Hi Ronaldo! I am late but I am here. I also thought that your comment was too short. BuT I know you. You were my teacher at Thomas in 2005. I loved your classes because of this blog "system". :) I love technology too!

Hi Mildred!

It's ok being a little late, and thanks for commenting.

It's true you know and remember being your teacher on that Saturday group. However, some facts may have changed in 4 years, take a look at my introduciton and see if you really knew everything: http://practicalwriting.blogspot.com/2009/09/my-new-introduction.html
